When Jesus cast out the 7 demons from Meri Magdalene, it did not mean she was possessed. The 7 demons were the "Seven Sins": Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Envy, Pride.
So in other words, Meri was Jesus's first student to completely cleanse herself of all earthly sins.
